Gemotions

"Well, this is it, huh?" Ben said to his sister, casting a glance around. He was usually restless, but for some reason, he found himself standing still, admiring the interior. He found his hand tracing the contours of the banister as he walked upstairs.

He hadn't been back to this house since he was a kid. The walls seemed to hold the echoes of laughter and family dinners. He saw the marks on the wall where his height had been measured. He felt the smile stretching across his face.

He found himself wandering through the house, finding that his shoulders were down, his breathing regular. He walked through the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and found a bottle of his grandmother's homemade jam. He took it out, knowing it was going to be good.
